In the corner of Recocijo Square, just behind the Plaza de Armas, in Casa Garcilaso de la Vega (who was a major contributor to the important chronicles about the Inca Society just before the Spanish victory), stands this small museum that retraces the history of Cusco and its region from the pre-Inca period. Ceramics, tissues, miscellaneous items, mummies, weapons, etc. explain the Inca society and the independence time; an important point of the visit stands in the exhibition of paintings made by great artists of the School of Cusco.
